Travelling to Tawau

Tawau Airport is a busy airport located just 15 nautical miles south east of Tawau, Malaysia, and is well-known for offering great service to international travelers. It's one of the two airports on Sabah with international terminals, the other of which is Kota Kinabalu Airport. The majority of the flights that originate in Malaysia land at the international terminal. Other local flights land in the south east of Tawi Airport, also known as Tanjung Kupang.

To get to Tawau airport, you need to take a ferry from the town itself, as this is the only way to travel to the airport from the mainland. The best time to depart from the city is in the morning, as most of the flights land and take off from this area. There are also many taxis available for rental service to the airport, but it's advised that you check first if they are reliable to avoid getting ripped off. Getting into Tawau by car isn't much harder, as there are several parking lots near the airport, all of which are easily accessible by a vehicle.
